Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

My boss, mentor, and good friend Mike Robertson had a nice, sentimental "what I'm thankful for" post today, and it got me thinking about what I'm thankful for:

  • Mentors. To those whom I know either personally or mentally. I've been reading other people's stuff for about five years now, and I can say that I've truly learned a lot from everyone.
  • Mentors++. Mike and Bill deserve a category of their own. You guys have done so much for me (and put up with so much of my shenanigans). I can honestly say I would be nowhere without you guys.
  • Food. Without you, this day would be dismal at best.
  • Sleep. Without you, being off of work wouldn't feel so good.
  • Past summer friends. To all of you who left me at the end of this past summer (Kyle, Eric, Joe, Liz, and Kelly... in no particular order, although I'm sure the girls will beg to differ :D). Some great times, some perspective of the world, plenty of knowledge bombs (PRI FTW), and a chance to spread what I know to you in return. I miss all of you bastards.
  • Little Stevie. You keep me going, man. Don't let us bring you down when we're not feeling it (in the gym or otherwise). Keep that intensity cranked to 14 and rip off the knob.
  • Clients. Everyone I've helped whom I can see have changed noticeably. You make this life make sense. I guarantee I'm more grateful to you than you'd think.
  • The Interwebz. Without you, it would be very hard for me to spread my words.

Lastly, I'd like to mention I'm thankful for myself. This may seem to scream "EGOMANIAC", but let me explain. I'm happy with where I'm at and the progress I have made. I don't feel the need to use Lent or the New Year as an excuse to get something done, I just decide to do it. Ultimately, this boils down to my parting question:

Why put something off when it can help you now?
